I'm really not a fan of synthetic fragrances so anytime I have an opportunity to go au naturel, I will. Typically in the summertime, I use essential oils and incense, but now as the weather cools, I love to opt for some slow cooker simmering fruit and spices for some rich fall fragrance.
This is super easy to put together and can have your home smelling like Fall for days. The amount of fruit and spice that you simmer is going to be proportionate to the intensity and longevity of the scent. For me, using a small slow cooker works perfectly for our open kitchen-living area. When I'm making these "simmer scents," I think about the ingredients I would used to make a "baked good" (for example apple crisp) and just throw it in some water and simmer instead.
For this particular "recipie," I used:
- 1 orange
- 1 apple
- 3 cinnamon sticks
I initially start this simmer scent on the HIGH setting and turn it down to low or simmer once it fills the room. So easy to do, and so pretty too!
Enjoy and have a wonderful day!
