Fall in Texas means you're pretty much still in shorts, and this past Saturday was no exception. The day started out pretty chill with some photographs, writing and errands and ended with an impromptu visit to the Fort Bend County Fair.
The base of this outfit starts with some Joe's Jeans denim shorts that have been with my capsule wardrobe for two seasons now. I typically find denim like this at Nordstrom Rack where you can get quality pieces at off-season prices. The styles and washes vary from season to season, but you really need to be observing very closely to be able to tell the difference.
I'm kind of over the plaid (for now at least) and wanted to get a more "refined menswear" top to add to my capsule wardrobe for this season. I chose this longitudinal striped oxford from Madewell. I really enjoy the length on this oxford. Over the past few years, because I've been wearing more oversized clothing, I feel "naked" if I have anything tight fitting. This oxford helps me retain some shape while still having that oversized feel.
Accessories to round out this outfit include my favorite black slides from Nisolo (which I will definitely be back for more colors next season). These shoes were so dusty from my time in Peru, so I took them to the cobbler who restored them to look (almost) brand new! Also, added this faux fur purse I found at Free People to add a pop of color for the Fall season.
Oh yeah. And we can't forget about the earrings and the scrunchie! Black studs are by New England maker, Loren Hope. This black velvet scrunchie was an impulse buy while I was waiting in line at Urban Outfitters, but I love how it really holds all of my hair up and adds a little newness to this capsule wardrobe season!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous day! Cheers!
