I really have a thing for wood accessories. I'm constantly psychoanalyzing myself and asking "Why wood?" One of my previous students told me it was because I'm a Capricorn and I'm just "earthy" like that. I also grew up in a very "woodsy" part of Pennsylvania--(you know "Penn's Woods") so that may also have something to do with it. I also love the warmth, character and uniqueness of wood grain. Regardless, I have a lot of wood accessories and I wanted to share my favorites with you!
Here are three of my favorite, sustainable, wood accessories.
Authentic Mala bead bracelets hand crafted by local Balinese Artisans. Blessed in Bali. Sustainably harvested, fair trade and designed to help you find a calmer mind, body and spirit. This is my go to accessory for most of my casual days. It's made of sandalwood, which has a beautiful, natural fragrance that I can help smelling throughout the day whenever I need to relax for to have a moment of mental clarity. Sandalwood is heavy, yellow, and fine-grained, and retains its fragrance for decades.
This handcrafted Maple & Zebrawood watch is hand finished and pretreated with tung oils. It's created with a scratch-resistant, splash proof mineral glass and Citizen Miyota 2035 movement with a quartz crystal tuning fork.
When presented with all the options on the JORD website, I fell in love with the intricate grain pattern of Zebrawood. I really like choosing interesting accessories and this watch definitely fit the bill.
JORD's tagline--"raw material, refined design" embraces the aesthetic I'm going for with this blog, Mozart & Shiplap. I love putting together the best of all worlds and creating beauty from what others may perceive as "not so beautiful" situations.
JORD is run by artists, designers, marketers, and minders focused on creating timepieces that are modeled after a modern lifestyle. They value sustainability, efficiency, and experiential living and make their watches for people with somewhere to be AND somewhere to go.
For Holiday 2017, I'm offering all of my readers an exclusive promo code to receive a 25% off discount a JORD watch to gift to their friend, their significant other, or you know--themselves, you know #treatyoself !
Combining luxury with technology, Glitty is the brainchild of the collaboration between Kerf Case, a best in class manufacturer of hand-crafted wood iPhone cases located in Pittsburgh, USA and Mehdi Izemmour, an entrepreneur who was actively looking for an idea that would open the doors to a new market.
This is a wood Macbook SKIN, meaning it only goes on the cover of the laptop. 3M adhesive is used to adhere the skin onto the Macbook. I've had this skin for almost 2 years and looks (almost) brand new!
