This season was all about self-discovery, career exploration and making a pivot in my life from being an instructional leader and high school math teacher, to following the things that light my soul on fire. Topics include entrepreneurship, spirituality, relationships, self-discovery, sustainable living & working remotely in Peru.

This week I'm wrapping up the three-show series about my time volunteering and working remotely in Peru with a snapshot of 10 things I realized about myself and others during this journey. This will also serve as the final episode in Season One of The Art of Living. I talk about some thoughts on America, gratitude, the nomad life, and pivoting after a few years of change personally and professionally. This episode is for anyone who is interested in travel, Peru, remote work and/or some reflections on what it's like to live and work abroad.

Ann is a Teach For America alumna (NOLA '12) and an avid traveler, having visited or lived in over 40 countries in 5 continents. Ann’s most culturally enriching experiences abroad have been through international development work, and her goal is to provide similar opportunities to working professionals. This episode is for anyone who may be interested in remote work, international development, travel and overcoming obstacles in life.
TAL#23 | Today, we're chatting with Michelle D'Avella--Breathwork teacher, mentor, writer, and Desire Map facilitator who believes that turning inward and walking straight through the pain you're hiding from is the only path to true happiness. We talk about the Breathwork experience, how to lean in to your fear and show up for your healing, and her support group, "Make Your Art," an ongoing support group open to anyone looking for support in moving through the blocks holding them back from making more of their art whether it be writing, painting, drawing, song, or any other creative project.
TAL#22 | Today, we’re speaking with Samantha Kaplan, a large scale abstract landscape painter who creates art that calms your soul, energizes your room and connects you with nature. We chat about (1) takeaways from two books that we read—Real Artists Don’t Starve + The Artists’ Way, (2) how to make a profit as an artist, (3) the connection between creativity + spirituality, and (4) basics for living a fulfilling, happy life that lights your soul on fire. We also add in some real talk about mentorship, student loans and how to combine science + activism with art.
TAL#21 | Today's episode is all about how to reprogram your thoughts through the consistent repetition of words and phrases, aka "affirmations." I share my own experience using affirmations, as well as some practical strategies, obstacles, and solutions I've gathered along the way. This episode is for anybody who is looking for a practical and efficient approach for using affirmations to overcome limiting beliefs holding them back in their relationships, heath, finances and/or career.
TAL#20 | Today's episode is all about finding emotional + mental FREEDOM using the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). This episode is for anyone who is interested in (1) WHAT EFT is all about and how it can free you from emotional and mental blocks (even ones you don't know about), (2) WHY I decided to go to an EFT practitioner, (3) WHAT the experience was like and (4) implications for the future.
TAL#19 | In today's episode, Jennie Pitts of Jennie Lou Art shares her remarkable journey of failure, faith + discipline that took her from being a 2012 Teach for America corps member teaching 6th grade World History in South Carolina, to becoming a full-time creative entrepreneur. I'm still emotionally charged up about the situation so if you like to hear an episode that is more "put together," then this episode is NOT for you. However, if you'd like to hear a more less-polished-venting side of me (the behind-the-scenes), then you may find this interesting.

I share a favorite fable of mine which illustrates the difference between flattery and praise in order to bring awareness to concept that can easily be overlooked in our busy lives. I also explain the subtle energetic difference ("vibration") between these two concepts and how knowing and applying this information can improve our communication and outcomes in our personal and professional lives.

In this episode, my husband, Alex, makes his podcasting debut in our very first episode TOGETHER (woot!) to share our experience and reflections after participating in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.
TAL#08 | In this episode, I fill you in on the most recent chapter of my entrepreneurial journey and how my interests have evolved over the years to bring me to the point where I am ready (spiritually, mentally, physically) to leave my 7-3 and make the jump to being a full-time entrepreneur. There are so many things in our lives that can add to our energy or deplete our resources. Energy mapping is an objective process that you can use to identify these energy-sucks in your life so you can devote more time to the very things that light your soul on fire.
